The Grateful Den

The house exceeded our expectations. Perfect location, providing a stunning view without the long drive up some of the other mountains. Will definitely stay here again

We had an opportunity to spend a long weekend with our grandkids and chose The Grateful Den based partly because they allowed our dog, and partly because we were intrigued by the name. We didn't plan to use Big Canoe's other amenities because we really just wanted one on one time with the kids. The house did not disappoint. Our 9 year old granddaughter became quite the pool shark. The furnishings are very nice, although I would suggest a little more cookware. We did have some questions about lighting when we arrived, and the host responded quickly and was very helpful. I'm recommending Georgia Cabins For You to our son who usually uses VRBO. We had a very good experience with them. We are not especially Dead Heads, but it is our era and we loved all the wall art. My favorite is John Lennon and I love the young Billy Strings! I definitely recommend The Grateful Den and would stay here again. We were fortunate to have a full moon to add to the absolutely gorgeous view. You are almost to Heaven when you arrive--it's pretty high!

We went up for a weekend getaway and really enjoyed it. The views from the back deck are amazing and it’s very peaceful.

We loved our stay here and the view was spectacular! We used to own a home in Big Canoe, so we’re very familiar with the resort but wanted to try a home further up the mountain and it did not disappoint! A lot of stuff in this house but not a complaint, just observation. We went to the Easter service at the Big Canoe chapel, and it was wonderful!

We loved it. Location near our other family was the key factor in booking. The bonus was the very nice home for us to be in.

We stayed for a long weekend getaway to see the Fall Foliage. The views of this home were spectacular. My family loved the home. My son is 13 a loved having an Batchelor pad of his own downstairs. Every room was comfortable and decorated with the kind of vibe we love. Everything was perfect. Would love to come visit this property again.

We had such a great time at the Greatful Den. The home had such a great views, wildlife, and layout. We were a happy family on the mountain;). The amenities and the areas are great! Super friendly staff around the neighborhood and we were here during the their busiest day of the year. We also appreciated their taste in music and wine! We would love to stay again at this home! Thank you for allowing us to stay at your home.

Big Canoe never disappoints! We enjoyed the pool, kayaks and paddle boards at the lake. The surroundings are peaceful and beautiful, and the Grateful Den sits in a perfect location, close to both recreation areas. The house was perfect for our family. We played many rounds of pool, and the comfortable dinner table doubled as our puzzle station. It did rain a bit during our stay, but hey! “It’s just a box of rain… such a long, long time to be gone and a short time to be there.” Thank you for sharing your home with us.

The house has a beautiful view of the mountains and feels very private even though there are houses on each side. We did not use the Big Canoe neighborhood amenities (except for the walking trails -which are lovely), but there are many choices of activities, restaurants, sports, etc. The house is an older home that has been renovated. But, the water doesn’t get very hot and doesn’t stay warm for long. This was a major bummer because we were looking forward to taking baths and were unable to do so. We had to take quick showers and make sure no other appliances were using water while we showered. Also, the upstairs is nice and warm, but the downstairs bedroom was very cold. You might want to bring a portable heater if staying in the winter. The upstairs gas logs were amazing and we really enjoyed them!

Clean. Comfortable. Great Atlanta-looking view. Needs chairs downstairs. No comfortable place to sit down there.

Incredible views. Very well stocked kitchen. There was no grill as listed, so dinner meals had to be cooked inside. Not a dealbreaker, just disappointed. There are no window coverings in the house, so you are up with the sun. Uncomfortable Murphy bed. No light in primary shower.

The grateful den was a great location in big canoe with an incredible view. We spent many days snuggled up to a fire and enjoying the mountain air.

This is a very great to stay. Would be 5 star if a couple of things were done. 1st, there needs to be window coverings in the bedrooms to prevent having to get up when the sun comes up. 2nd, the fact that you have to take your trash to dumpsters 15min from the house is a nuisance . If you don’t like steep driveway or hills with very curving roads, do not stay in this community. The property and community are beautiful and would definitely stay again.
