This was a nice cabin with modern finishes! It’s well maintained and very spacious! The company was easy to contact and helpful when we needed anything. The only thing two things to keep in mind is that the front door was very difficult to open and close due to it scraping against the flooring and that there are no curtains anywhere. The place has beautiful large windows allowing for a lot of natural light; however, there are no curtains in private spaces like the bedrooms and bathrooms. So any other guest casually walking on the back deck can easily see into the bedrooms and bathroom.

Feedback
1) We arrived after 4:00 pm to the house. Unfortunately we never received the code to let us into the house. We waited almost 30 minutes before we received the code. 2) The front door difficult to open due to it scratching the floor. 3)Having no curtains in the main bathroom and the bedrooms is ridiculous. 4)I had to call to get the TV on lower level working. 5) On our last night the heat upstairs wasn’t working properly, we were freezing. In the meantime the lower level was burning up. 6) There is absolutely nothing to do at Big Canoe. 7) Found mouse dropping under the sofa upstairs. Overall we did not enjoy.

The upstairs was beautiful. The kitchen was great but several things need attention. One bedroom downstairs didn’t have pillows, it only had shams. The downstairs sofa is tiny, suitable for kids. Half of the towels and washcloths were stained. In a mountain home you expect to see a few bugs, but downstairs had a lot of dead insects like it hadn’t been swept in weeks. Also there were probably 10 live millipedes/caterpillars crawling around. We swept up and got rid of the live insects but when we saw a live scorpion behind a bedroom door we moved upstairs. We could only use 2 of the 4 bedrooms. I contacted the management company and they offered to come clean it up but we had already done so. In the living room there is no coffee table, no end tables, no lamps, no rug. It’s not a deal breaker but it’s just weird not to have the basic furniture you’d expect to have. All in all, the place has been beautifully redone but it falls short of any other rental I’ve ever stayed in.

Our stay at this property was unacceptable and ultimately unsafe. Upon arrival, we found extensive dead and live spiders, insect residue, droppings, and evidence that the basement had recently been treated for pests. We immediately notified the host and provided more than 30 photographs. Despite this, the response was delayed and we were essentially asked whether someone could simply “sweep up” the insects. The situation became far more serious when our son, who slept in the basement, reported being bitten throughout the night and developed numerous bites across his body. During our second day we discovered and recorded live fleas jumping onto my husband’s legs and immediately reported the issue to Airbnb and the host. After packing and unpacking for a 1.5-month stay, this caused an enormous inconvenience to our family. Despite the documented health and safety concerns, we have not received the full refund. This was a serious pest and safety situation that should never have occurred.
